Accord Semi-trailers prevent a full jackknife, increase cube 20%, improve maneuverability 50% and save approx. 640 gallons of fuel per year per tractor.
Introducing the d-TRAIN tractor package featuring the ACCORD Semi-trailer, representing a significant advancement with remarkable improvements in Cube, GAWR, maneuverability, roll stability, and fuel efficiency. Notably, it incorporates the groundbreaking e-Pusher air-ride axle, a first in the industry.
By removing the “GAP” from the BOC (back of cab) and trailer bulkhead, fuel savings of approximately 5% can be achieved, as per credible research. The design ensures prevention of full-on jackknifing, with the tractor mechanically restricted to a rotation of 52 degrees, more than sufficient to meet maneuvering requirements. Furthermore, the ACCORD Semi-trailer offers the option of an additional air ride axle to facilitate easy coupling, another innovative feature.
Operating the ACCORD semi is akin to handling an auto carrier hauler. Its patented NZR 5th wheel compound hitch system is mandatory, moving the physical articulation of the tractor 21′ (6.4m) towards the rear of the kingpin (30/36/60″ KP), significantly enhancing maneuverability by approximately 50%. These interconnected trailers may boast greater GAWR, increased cube, and serve as potential deterrents against theft.
With the appropriate BBC tractors (refer to CO EU), the potential exists for utilizing 63′ (19m) and 73′ (22m) semi-trailers, leading to accelerated payback on ROI/ROA/ROC. Additionally, existing Semi-trailers and tractors can be converted to adopt the new ACCORD technology, requiring only minor adjustments to the 5th wheel slider and chassis after-frame for the tractor, and a refit for the Semi-trailers to accommodate either the turntable or 5th wheel stinger design. ROI is estimated to be around 12 months for 63′ and three years for 48′ to 53′ conversions.

40 Ton Drop Deck concept

By implementing d-TRAIN technology on the tractor 5th wheel, the ACCORD-Stinger 40-ton capacity drop-deck will experience a remarkable 30% improvement in maneuverability, even without the use of steering axles. The payload capacity can be increased by extending the goose-neck, and adding the pusher axle provides similar benefits as a jeep. The deck can be easily removed using the NZR 5th wheel/turntable combination, and the air suspension enables the deck to be lowered to the ground. ACCORD-Stingers prevent full jackknifing, as they are mechanically limited to 52 degrees, which proves sufficient for off-road maneuvers. An optional feature is the oscillating 5th wheel. Furthermore, the pusher air-ride axle allows for reconnection without the need for traditional pins and latches. It’s worth noting that all ACCORD-Stingers and goose-neck arrangements are designed to be removable.
